Once the day-trippers leave, the bridge becomes a different place. Why you should stay at least one night.
This is a sample post, written to show what the template looks like when it’s filled in.
Day-trippers leave Mostar at five in the afternoon. The real Mostar starts after that: the lights come on along the bridge, you can suddenly hear the Neretva, and the bazaar slowly goes back to the locals.

Why stay the night?
During the day it’s hard even to walk across the bridge. At night only a handful of people remain, watching the divers jump. When we went up at seven in the morning, we had it entirely to ourselves.
Where did we stay?
A small family-run guesthouse inside the old town, with a terrace looking onto the bridge. The rooms were simple, but breakfast on that terrace made up for everything.
Good to know
- It’s two hours by train from Sarajevo, and a scenic ride at that.
- Summer temperatures hit 40°C; go in spring or autumn if you can.
