Perast, Herceg Novi and Our Lady of the Rocks: Kotor isn't just a town, it's a whole bay.
Visa alert: According to news reports, Montenegro will start requiring visas from Turkish citizens on 1 November 2026. Check the latest rules on the official website of Montenegro’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs before you travel.
In our Kotor write-up we mentioned one small but really important detail, and we want to pass it on here as proper advice. If you go to Kotor and only see the old town, the clock tower and the lanes, you’ll miss a lot.
Kotor is the name of a bay
Kotor isn’t only the name of the town; it gives its name to the whole bay. Leave without seeing Perast, Herceg Novi and Our Lady of the Rocks, and the trip will feel unfinished.
A boat tour is a must
If you have the time, take a boat tour and see these places, and more, from the water. Don’t head home without seeing the Bay of Kotor, often called Europe’s southernmost fjord, and the Dalmatian coastline.
